Dorcas Dinkins-Hill (soprano)

A native Memphian, Dorcas received a Master of Music degree in Voice from the University of Tulsa. Dorcas sang leading roles for several seasons with the Greater Miami Opera Association, singing roles in Wandering Scholar, The Medium, Trouble in Tahiti and La Traviata. She also sang for several seasons with the Miami Beach Symphony. Dorcas has appeared with the South Florida Theatre Company in many productions including The Barber of Seville. She also performed many roles with the Michigan Opera Theatre, including the lead in Scott Joplin's Treemonisha. While in New York, Dorcas performed with the Richmond Theatre Collection, Bel Canto opera and the Opera Ensemble of New York. Locally, she has performed with Opera Memphis in Man of La Mancha and Tosca. Dorcas performed leading roles in Beale Street Ensemble Theatre's productions of Tintypes and Ain't Misbehavin'. A founding member of the Memphis Vocal Arts Ensemble, she has sung with the group since 1992. Dorcas is presently an Orff Music teacher with the Memphis City Schools and the mother of two "perfect" children.
