Leon Sanderson (bass)

Leon Sanderson was born in Springfield, Missouri, and came to Memphis in 1955 after completing his college work at Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Speech. Since then, he has completed a Bachelor of Science in Music at Memphis State University, a Master of Arts in Bible, a Master of Religious Education and Master of Divinity, all from Harding Graduate School of Religion. He serves as full-time associate minister with the Church of Christ at White Station in Memphis, where he has been since 1979. Leon has always had a keen interest in music. He directed the a cappella chorus at Harding Academy of Memphis from 1958 to 1961. He has helped to conduct training series in song since he was eighteen years of age. Leon has been in the Memphis Vocal Arts Ensemble since 2001. Leon has three children, Melody, Michael and Murray, and four grandchildren. He is married to the former Marilyn Cobb of Springfield, Missouri, who serves as Director of Elementary Education at Harding Academy, where she has been since 1971.
